Capital Credits

The advantage of a cooperative is that it is owned by the members it serves.  As a member-owner, you share in the profits of the co-op. All revenue received annually in excess of expenses (i.e. profits) is allocated back to the membership in the form of capital credits. This allocation is based on the dollar amount of electricity purchased by each member during the year.

Important facts about capital credits:

* In August, CEC refunded capital credits to eligible members who had active electric accounts prior to and through the end of 1981.

* The eligible members with active electric accounts had their capital credits applied to their August electric bills.

* The eligible members with inactive electric accounts will be issued a check for their capital credits that will be available for pick-up after Sept. 1, at the main office in Sanford. With advance notice and proper identification, checks can be sent to a branch office for pick-up.

* Capital credits payable to deceased eligible members will only be paid to the legally appointed representatives of those estates.

* If you have any questions regarding these credits, please call your nearest CEC office for more information.

* A list of all members eligible for these specific capital credits is available here by clicking on the link below. The link will provide all names by alphabetical order.
